Ever since growing up on an island in the Stockholm archipelago, the sea and the barren environment have been constant companions in Eva Schildt’s artistic creativity. Since graduating in furniture and product design from Beckmans College of Design in 2001, Eva has designed everything from furniture and textiles to packaging and trade show exhibitions. She also works as an interior architect.

Eva Schildt is convinced that people do not change very much over time. Instead, it is the environment that is in constant flux. This belief is something that reflects her design. With humility, Eva combines tradition with a small dose of modernity – a respectful provocation.

The materials and techniques vary; sometimes it involves craftsmanship, other times mass production. Inspired by nature, her designs, which are often sculptural, have almost always included elements of both humor and multi-functionality.

Eva Schildt's playful approach to everyday life and her warm personality are recurring themes in her design, which is now represented internationally. She is currently based in Stockholm, but has previously lived in Tokyo and collaborated with a number of Japanese companies.

Eva Schildt's work is represented at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.

"Behind all design there is a person, an experience. People often have something to tell. If you really want to touch someone, you need to expose yourself without fear of being perceived as superfluous," says Eva Schildt.
